Responsibility depends on whether the server is managed or self-managed. A managed service may include operating-system updates, monitoring, security configuration, and troubleshooting within the agreed scope. A self-managed server places those duties with the customer or their administrator.
Confirm the management level in the order or service agreement. Keep a current inventory, patch schedule, backup plan, and emergency contact list regardless of management level.
