Do not treat the production server as the only copy of important data. Maintain backups on a separate system or storage location and test restores regularly.

- Keep multiple restore points and protect at least one copy from the production server.
- Encrypt backups and limit who can access them.
- Monitor job status and alert on failures or low storage.
- Perform a test restore before a migration or major change.
