How do I set up Outlook for my cPanel email account?

cPanel email works with Outlook and other mail apps using the settings shown in Email Accounts > Connect Devices.

  1. In cPanel, open Email Accounts.
  2. Find the mailbox and click Connect Devices.
  3. Use the automatic configuration option if Outlook is listed.
  4. For manual setup, enter the full email address as the username and the mailbox password.
  5. Choose IMAP with SSL/TLS for incoming mail and authenticated SMTP for outgoing mail.

Recommended manual settings

  • Incoming IMAP: port 993, SSL/TLS
  • Incoming POP3: port 995, SSL/TLS, only if you specifically need POP
  • Outgoing SMTP: port 465, SSL/TLS, or port 587 with STARTTLS if offered
  • Server name: use the hostname shown by cPanel; this may be your domain or the server hostname depending on the SSL certificate
